Typographic Experiments
When letterpress printing, things don’t always go to plan… the vintage type isn’t always type height, the old ink might need thinning or the paper might slip at a crucial moment, but these accidents sometimes produce the best results.
Whist cleaning up excess ink with old newsprint paper I stumbled upon some nice abstract effects when the solvent interacts with the ink and is left to dry. I then runs these ‘curious sheets’ through the press at the end of a run to create some interesting typographical creations.
